I'm an NZ native and grew up in one of the leading wine regions in the country. You'd be forgiven for thinking I just drink our best Sauvignon Blanc! Since joining Majestic less than a year ago my wine knowledge has expanded rapidly as well as my wine cellar. I'm a great believer in thinking if you like it, forget about the label and quaff it! You have nothing to lose except preconceptions.

After a brief spell in Majestic Derby I've come full circle by starting back in Ashbourne where I started my trade. Pretty much into any wines, but have a serious weak spot for big Tuscan reds. Huge fan of real ale and love the local Thornbridge beer we stock. Derby County season ticket holder - so any football chat is also welcomed.

Having spent 9 years choosing, pairing and serving wine in the hospitality trade I finally decided to take the plunge and join Majestic in this past year in order to build on what knowledge I already had. In my time away from store, you'll often find me in as horizontal a position as possible with a glass of something quaffable, beer or wine, anything is fine. On the sofa, or down the local at least. Music, birding, photography and football are also topics I'm always open to discussing.

I use the store often but popped in last week for 6 wines for Halloween callers (adults only ) and asked a young looking man for around the £8 mark. He made a comment of 'not many of those ' but anyway he managed to find some ! On Wednesday 30th October my daughter who buys from you maybe monthly called in to say a white wine she had bought last week fizzed when opened and was undrinkable.
She showed the same guy the wine in store because she thought he would maybe check them but he basically said he wasn't interested. This is the first time in 7 years of using your store that I'm disappointed. Always found customer service great.

Annoyed that I can't check online for your stock because you are one mile further than Stafford, though far easier to get to. I spent many years using Uttoxeter before being forced to use Stafford

This weekend, this store will be closing early on Sunday at 1PM, and reopening again on Monday at 1PM. This is for an annual Majestic colleague event – to give our teams a well deserved break and celebration. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We’re delighted to announce that Majestic Tasting: Introduction To Wine is back! This 90 minute session is perfect for anyone starting out on their wine journey, or if you’re someone who would just like to know a little bit more. We cover the basic tasting technique, look at what makes wine so varied and unique, and introduce you to some of the key styles of wine from across the world.

Our next Introduction to Wine is at 6pm on Friday 17th June. Tickets are £10 per person, and spaces are limited, so please get in touch if you would like to secure your spot.

Only rarely does a wine surprise, shock and satisfy in one go. The Guv'nor red takes the prize and triple crown. The surprise is the wonderful taste, ably described already by others. The shock is the availability of such a gem for the current six bottle price. And the satisfaction would take more space than this to amplify fully. As a red wine drinker for more years than my wallet cares to remember, I've found a stunner and hope to continue buying this new high praised favourite for quite some time. Special thanks to Karl at Uttoxeter for his skilful, expert guidance without pressure or waffle. He knows what he's talking about, and when he said The Guv'nor had many tasting qualities he was obviously talking from experience. Good man!
Have a feeling that more of The Guv'nor is inevitable. No question.
